Yukon Beaver Colony

Yukon Beaver Colony meet on Thursday

For boys & girls aged 6 – 8

Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts (Cornwell or Kipling), between seven years and six months and eight years six months. Beaver Scouts are easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts. If you would like to join Yukon, please contact us.

1st Old Malden has two Beaver Scout Colonies (Winnipeg and Yukon) each offering Scouting to boys and girls.

Our Beaver Colonies meet for an hour each week during which time the Beavers might play games, make things, sing, act, meet people or learn about the world around them. They also have a chance to earn badges to wear on their uniform.

Both our Colonies have occasional outings, invite interesting visitors to their meetings and take part in activities with other Colonies.

We also offer the chance to take part in twenty-four hour Sleepovers so the Beavers can spend a night away from home and learn to cope without Mum or Dad. Sleepovers are normally held in indoor accommodation – usually a Scout Headquarters.

Our Beaver Scouts also have the opportunity to take part in District events including sports, outings, badge days and an annual party.

All activities are based on encouraging the Beavers to work and play together, to share, to be tolerant and to be part of a team. In fact a “fun” introduction to the principles of Scouting.

Take a look at the photos from our trip to Tesco, New Malden to take part in their Farm to Fork experience.
